The Hayloft is located in Allithwaite in the beautiful Cartmel Peninsula, at the edges of the Lake District and Morecambe Bay. Described by the village Millenium Map as, “set like a jewel in a cloak of green”, Allithwaite is minutes from picturesque Cartmel and the Edwardian resort of Grange-over-Sands.

Lake Windermere is 8 miles away and a short scenic drive from Bowness-on-Windermere and the heart of the Lakes. The nearby towns of Kendal, Ulverston and Barrow-in-Furness offer varied cultural and shopping opportunities and memorable places to eat. Alternatively, stay in the Cartmel Peninsula to ramble along a network of paths and the Cumbria Coastal Way, enjoy activities from golf to riding and mountain biking to parachuting or simply stroll to the local pub with open fire, one of two in the village.

Leave Junction 36 of the M6 and travel along the A591 towards Windermere, taking the A590 signposted to the Lake District Peninsulas. At the Lindale roundabout, take the B5277 to Grange-over-Sands and Allithwaite. Detailed directions are provided on booking.

Trains run directly to Grange-over-Sands from Manchester Airport (1hr 45) and Manchester Piccadilly (1hr 27). Many rail services require a change at Lancaster to the Furness Line, including London (3hrs 20) and Glasgow (3 hrs).

National Express coaches stop at Lancaster or Preston for rail connections to Grange-over-Sands. An hourly Stagecoach bus (X35) runs from Kendal bus station, connecting with the Grange Circular (532) to Allithwaite.
